Have you ever felt as though life was just happening to you, as if you were merely a passenger in your own existence, unable to steer the course of your destiny? This was how I once lived—believing that I was a victim of circumstance and that bad luck was an inevitable part of my life. But then something changed. I learned a profound truth: once your subconscious mind accepts a belief, it executes it, shaping your reality in ways you may have never imagined. This realization has the power to transform your life, bringing you perfect health, success, harmony, and peace of mind.

A Solo Trip Unplanned Requires A Leap of Faith & Inner Trusting Of Yourself

For the longest time, I dreamed of traveling to Europe. I had often visualized myself there, imagining every detail with intense clarity. Yet, I kept “waiting” for the perfect moment—the ideal amount of money, the flawless itinerary, and the right companions to join me. I believed everything had to align just right before I could embark on this journey.

But then, one day, I had an impulsive thought: Why not just go in a few days? It was a wild idea—just grab a backpack and set off. I’ve always trusted my instincts, and I didn’t believe this would be a difficult thing to do. Sure, it might have sounded a little crazy to some—heading to Europe, starting in Portugal, with no plan or itinerary—but I knew exactly what I wanted from the experience. My goal was simple: to relax, retreat by the seaside, savor espressos, indulge in local pastries, and lose myself in a good book under the warm Portuguese sun.

I found the idea no different than being alone and having coffee in my own city, just this time it would be across the Atlantic.

I had a clear target and a strong sense of purpose before setting out. I believed with conviction and reminded myself daily of my “why” and what I was going to experience. The details and logistics didn’t concern me—I trusted they would fall into place. I knew from the start that this journey was destined to be incredible.

So, I decided to travel to Portugal—a country that had long held a special place in my dreams. Unlike most travelers, I had no concrete plan, no itinerary, no safety net. It was a leap of faith, akin to jumping off a cliff blindfolded. The prospect was both exhilarating and terrifying, but I went for it. In doing so, I discovered the how much I imprinted my subconscious mind to believe in and trust myself like NEVER BEFORE.

When I boarded the plane to Portugal, all I carried was a suitcase and an unshakable belief that beautiful things always happen to me. This belief didn’t come overnight; it was the result of months of self-work and consciously reprogramming my subconscious mind. I used to see myself as a victim of chaos, someone who couldn’t hold on to beautiful or wonderful things and experiences. That it was part of life. But I decided to rewrite that narrative. I began to view myself as someone to whom wonderful things naturally happen, and I made it my mission to plant and nurture this belief deep within the garden of my mind. I had a target and GPS and set my intentions before setting out. I believed with conviction and reminded myself every day of my ‘Why’ and ‘What’ I was going to experience. The details and ‘how’s’ were not my problem. I already knew that my journey was off to a great start.

How I Transformed Fear into Strength Through My Subconscious

Fear is a natural emotion, especially when stepping into the unknown. When I arrived in Portugal, the fear of uncertainty was palpable. I had no plan, no familiar faces to turn to, and no idea of what the next day would bring. But instead of allowing fear to paralyze me, I chose to see it as a signpost—a signal that I was on the brink of something new and exciting.

As I walked through the streets of a foreign country, I embodied confidence. I wasn’t just pretending; I genuinely felt it. I carried myself as someone who belonged, someone who was meant to be there. This mindset opened doors in ways I hadn’t expected. I wasn’t afraid to ask strangers for recommendations or strike up conversations with potential new friends. Eating alone, something that might have once felt intimidating, became an act of self-love and empowerment. I dined with confidence, savoring the experience, and never once judged myself for being on my own.

In situations where things didn’t turn out perfectly, I refused to be harsh on myself. For example, when I booked an Airbnb that ended up being far from what was advertised—Isolated, far from the city, with a distinct vibe. I did not like and without a clear plan B—I could have easily succumbed to panic. Instead, I trusted that I would find a solution. I stayed calm and resourceful, confident that I would land on my feet, and I did. This approach to challenges—viewing them as opportunities to demonstrate my ability to adapt and thrive—became a cornerstone of my journey.

Each time I faced a mishap, I reminded myself that I was capable of handling whatever came my way. The confidence I projected wasn’t just a façade; it was rooted in the belief that I was in control of my mind and my reactions. This belief allowed me to navigate through uncertainties with grace, turning potential setbacks into opportunities for growth. It was as if the universe recognized my trust in myself and responded in kind, aligning circumstances in my favor. The more I trusted in this process, the more empowered I felt, and the more incredible my experiences became.  I embraced the unknown with open arms, and in doing so, I discovered that fear was not something to be avoided but something to be transformed. It became a catalyst for growth, pushing me to step outside my comfort zone and embrace the full spectrum of experiences that life had to offer. The more I leaned into this mindset, the more the world seemed to open up to me, presenting me with opportunities and connections that I could never have planned for. It was as if the universe was conspiring in my favor, bringing me exactly what I needed when I needed it.

Nurturing the Mind: How to Talk to Your Subconscious Mind for Lasting Change

The mind is a powerful tool, much like a garden that requires consistent care. If you’re wondering how to talk to your subconscious mind, it’s essential to understand that your thoughts are like seeds planted in the fertile soil of your subconscious. Just as a gardener tends to plants, ensuring they are free from weeds and nourished with water and sunlight, we must tend to our thoughts with intention and care. The thoughts we consistently entertain become the seeds that grow into our reality.

Learning how to speak to your subconscious mind effectively involves repetition and consistency. Here are some key practices to help you nurture your mind and communicate with your subconscious:

  1. Daily Affirmations: Repeat positive affirmations that align with your goals and desires. This reinforces your belief in yourself and what you deserve.
  2. Visualization: Spend a few minutes each day visualizing your ideal life. Picture yourself living the life you desire, and feel the emotions associated with it.
  3. Mindfulness: Stay present and observe your thoughts throughout the day. When negative thoughts arise, gently redirect them to positive ones that support your desired reality.
  4. Gratitude Practice: Keep a gratitude journal and write down things you’re grateful for every day. This shifts your focus from lack to abundance and helps you attract more of what you want.
  5. Consistent Repetition: Engage in these practices regularly. Over time, this repetition will help dissolve old limiting beliefs and rewire your subconscious mind with new, empowering ones.

By consistently engaging in these practices, you learn how to talk to your subconscious mind in a way that aligns with your deepest desires, gradually transforming your internal dialogue and, consequently, your external reality.

Remember, repetition dissolves disbelief. I committed to this practice because it’s my only job in the world—to cultivate the garden of my mind and create the life I know I am destined to live.

The Power of Positive Affirmations For Speaking To Your Subconscious

One of the most powerful tools I used during this journey was positive affirmations. Every morning, before I even got out of bed, I would repeat to myself: “Beautiful things always happen to me. I am deserving of love, success, and happiness. I am in control of my mind, and I create my reality.” These affirmations became my guiding light, especially during moments of doubt.

Affirmations work by reprogramming the subconscious mind, replacing negative beliefs with positive ones. The key is consistency. At first, it might feel strange, even forced, but over time, the subconscious begins to accept these affirmations as truth. This is because the subconscious mind doesn’t differentiate between what is real and what is imagined. It simply absorbs what you feed it repeatedly, and this becomes your new reality.

Visualization: Creating a Mental Blueprint For Your Desired State

Alongside affirmations, I practiced visualization. Every night, I would close my eyes and imagine my ideal da. I pictured myself walking through cobblestone streets, feeling the warmth of the sun on my skin, and savoring the taste of a perfectly brewed cup of coffee. I imagined meeting kind-hearted people, engaging in meaningful conversations, and discovering breathtaking landscapes.

Visualization is a powerful technique because it creates a mental blueprint for the subconscious mind to follow. When you visualize something with enough clarity and emotion, your mind begins to work towards making that vision a reality. This is because the subconscious mind is goal-oriented; it seeks out experiences that align with the images you consistently hold in your mind.

In Portugal, my visualizations began to manifest in ways that felt almost magical. I would find myself in situations that mirrored what I had imagined, meeting people who resonated with my energy and values. It was as if my subconscious mind was drawing these experiences to me, aligning my external reality with my internal visions.

Gratitude: Shifting from Lack to Abundance

Another practice that played a crucial role in my journey was gratitude. Every day, I made it a point to acknowledge the beauty in my life, no matter how small. Whether it was the sound of the ocean waves crashing against the shore or the taste of a freshly baked pastel de nata, I expressed gratitude for every experience.

Gratitude is a powerful emotion because it shifts your focus from lack to abundance. When you are grateful for what you have, you signal to your subconscious mind that you are already living a life of abundance. This, in turn, attracts more abundance into your life. It’s a simple but profound shift in perspective that can have a dramatic impact on your reality.

Mindfulness: Staying Present and Observing Thoughts

Mindfulness was another essential practice during my time, and it played a crucial role in my journey of transformation. I made a conscious effort to stay present and observe my thoughts without judgment. This wasn’t just a passive activity; it required active engagement with my inner world. Whenever negative thoughts or doubts crept in, I would gently redirect them to positive ones that supported my desired reality. This practice helped me maintain a mental environment where my new, empowering beliefs could take root and flourish.

Mindfulness is about becoming aware of the thoughts you entertain and choosing to focus on those that serve you. It’s about taking control of your mental environment and creating a space where positive beliefs can thrive. By being mindful, I was able to catch myself before falling into old patterns of fear and doubt, and instead, reinforce the new, empowering beliefs I was cultivating. It’s like being the gatekeeper of your mind, allowing in only those thoughts that align with the life you want to create.

To further support my mindfulness practice, I incorporated journaling into my daily routine. I carried a journal with me everywhere I went, using it as a tool to remind myself of everything I believed about myself and the life I was creating. Whenever I felt uncertain or overwhelmed, I would take out my journal and reread the affirmations and intentions I had written down. This act of journaling became a way to reaffirm my beliefs and set my intentions clearly and powerfully each day.

Transforming Your Mental State is Not Hard

I could see my progress and remind myself of the growth I was undergoing. It served as a tangible reminder of my commitment to myself and my transformation. Each time I put pen to paper, I was actively engaging in the process of reprogramming my subconscious mind, reinforcing the positive beliefs I was nurturing.

Through mindfulness and journaling, I was able to maintain a strong connection with my inner self, ensuring that my thoughts and beliefs were always aligned with the reality I wanted to create. These practices helped me stay grounded, focused, and empowered throughout my journey, allowing me to navigate challenges with grace and confidence.

Consistent Action: Aligning with Your Beliefs

While affirmations, visualization, gratitude, and mindfulness are powerful tools, they must be accompanied by action. Consistent action is what brings your beliefs to life. In Portugal, I made it a point to take actions that aligned with the affirmations and visualizations I was practicing. Whether it was exploring a new town, striking up a conversation with a stranger, or simply embracing the present moment, I took steps that reinforced the beliefs I was imprinting on my subconscious mind.

These actions didn’t have to be grand or extraordinary; even small, everyday actions can have a profound impact when they are aligned with your beliefs. By consistently taking steps that aligned with the life I wanted to create, I was able to reinforce the new patterns I was establishing in my subconscious mind.

My journey so far is more than just a physical trip—it was a journey of self-discovery and transformation. It taught me the incredible power of the subconscious mind and how, by nurturing it with positive beliefs, you can shape your reality in ways you never imagined.

The mind truly is like a garden, and the thoughts you plant and nurture within it determine the quality of your life. Just as a gardener tends to their plants, you must tend to your mind with care and consistency. The more you practice, the more your subconscious will accept your new beliefs, and your life will begin to reflect the beauty and abundance you desire.

So, embrace the unknown, trust yourself, and know that you are always in control of creating the life you desire. Your subconscious mind is your most powerful tool—use it wisely, and watch as your life transforms before your eyes.

Show up for yourself even when you don’t feel like it, no one can give you what you want but yourself.
